Just this month, tech giants including NVIDIA, Microsoft, Google, Oracle, CoreWeave, and Nscale have announced more than £40 billion (over $50 billion) in fresh commitments to catapult British compute capacity into the stratosphere, highlighted by plans for the largest sovereign GPU clusters in Europe.

  • NVIDIA’s £11 Billion Investment: In partnership with Nscale and CoreWeave, NVIDIA will deliver up to 120,000 Blackwell Ultra GPUs to UK data centers by 2026, forming the backbone of a new era in “AI factories” for research, enterprise, and government.

  • Microsoft’s £15–30 Billion Pledge: Microsoft is investing to build the UK’s largest supercomputer with 23,000 NVIDIA GPUs (partnering with Nscale), alongside broad AI-cloud infrastructure and new data centers.

  • Google’s £5 Billion and Salesforce’s $6 Billion: These investments will further bolster AI research, cloud services, and data center capacity, driving jobs and innovation from London to Newcastle.


This surge represents the single largest influx of foreign technology capital in the UK’s history, with the government emphasizing regional growth, sovereign digital capacity, and national security as key strategic outcomes.
